Forest Schools

Outdoor Learning

Every childhood needs sticks, mud and all that every season of the year gifts to us! Spending time outdoors is part-and-parcel of every child’s time while at Jubilee Gems - whatever their age.

Children in Pre-School enjoy exciting and fun sessions with our qualified Forest Schools Leader in our woodland and outdoor areas. The Forest Schools philosophy is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning, encouraging positive outdoor experiences.

Learn through Nature

Examples of Forest Schools and outdoor learning activities include:

  • Making dens
  • Whittling sticks to toast marshmallows with
  • Sawing and drilling wood to make items e.g. jewellery
  • Learning to building camp fires safely
  • Nature crowns
  • Minibeast hunts
  • ‘Fishing’ in the stream and analysing ‘finds’
  • Bringing story-telling to life outdoors

The children love the opportunity to show their independence and enjoy seeing what they have achieved or made during their woodland adventures.
