In true Jubilee spirit, the children, staff and parents have come together to raise a staggering £1,284 for the charity Breast Cancer Now.
On Thursday 22nd October, the children and staff at Jubilee Day Nursery and Jubilee Gems dressed in pink and held a special take-away style cake sale.
And it proved to a fantastic fundraising event, all whilst adhering to the government guidelines surrounding COVID-19.
On a mission to support Breast Cancer Awareness month, the nurseries have also installed a bra bank at their front entrances, allowing parents, staff and anyone in the local area to deposit their unwanted bras.
So far, the nurseries have received over 200 bras, and are still counting!
The bras will be donated to Against Breast Cancer. The charity’s bra recycling scheme takes unwanted or unloved bras and through its network of bra banks raises vital funds for pioneering breast cancer research.
The same bras also help to support small businesses in Africa. Together with the charity’s recycling partners, its textile recovery project prevents these bras going into landfill before giving them a new lease of life in developing countries such as Togo, Ghana and Kenya, where bras remain too expensive to produce locally.
