A special visit from people who help us

Learning has been brought to life for the pre-school children!

Last week they received special visits from Thames Valley Police, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue, nurses from Royal Berkshire Hospital and soldiers from the Dennison Barracks in Hermitage.

They each gave talks about the vital role they play in helping people to stay safe and supporting the community.

The children listened intently before trying on the different uniforms, handling the equipment and sitting behind the wheel of the different vehicles. They even had a go at flashing the lights and sounding the sirens for themselves!

The visits ignited the children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, enabling them to also share their own experiences and stories about their parents working in the forces or their last trip to the doctors.

Sian Caine, nursery manager at Jubilee Gems, said: “The children really enjoyed listening to all the visitors and hearing about the different ways in which they help us. They spent each day talking about all the things they had seen and were so excited to share what they had learned with their parents and grandparents. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who visited us.”
